Terena is a retired Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor following a career spanning over 35 years. She worked both in both government and private practice settings before starting her own firm managing its growth and success for over 25 years. Following this, she worked as an independent Forensic Vocational Evaluator conducting employment assessments to the legal community.
She previously served on the VRA Board (then CARP) as President of the Alberta chapter in the1990’s and has been an active member-at-large of the VRAC board since 2020. Over the past two years, she:
- Co-Chaired theConference Planning Committee for both the Virtual Conference in November 2021and the in-person conference in Toronto, June 2022:
- Co-Chaired theGovernance Committee which completed an in-depth review of the associationBy-Laws and recommended revisions to the membership which were ratified by themembers in November 2021:
- Chaired the AdHoc TSA Committee seeking input from both association and college members todevelop a comprehensive guideline for completing TSA reports:
- Chaired the AdHoc CEU committee which developed a unique system of earning and recordingcontinuing education credits for RRP, RVP, and RCSS members.
As a further demonstration of her commitment to the association, she co-authored the most recent version of the Code of Ethics which was ratified by the membership and has presented on ethics related topic at numerous conferences and seminars. Terena also developed three training modules for Online Learning Academy for VRAC. She has been an advocate for the rights of persons with disabilities in her community as past board chair for the Canadian Mental Health Association – Edmonton Region and served on the Advisory Committee for Persons with Disabilities for the City of Edmonton which influenced city council to implement numerous accommodations for persons with mobility and/or sensory impairments.
Terena is a Registered Rehabilitation Professional (RRP), a retired Certified Vocational Rehabilitation Professional - Fellow (CVRP- F) and Canadian Certified Vocational Evaluator - Fellow (CCVE- F). She was a Certified Vocational Evaluation Specialist (CVE), and Canadian Certified Rehabilitation Counsellor (CCRC) with the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselling Certification (CRCC) until her retirement.
