VRA Canada announces RFP for new OLA modules

VRA is looking for subject matter experts to create the next level of OnlineLearning Academy (OLA) modules. Read on for more details and please feel free to share this information with anyone who might be interested.

Some background

In 2019 VRA Canada launched the first modules in the Online Learning Academy.

The OLA platform provides cutting edge, evidence-based, peer-reviewed learning modules, developed by subject matter experts in the field of vocational rehabilitation.

The platform allows for accessible, flexible, convenient, online learning opportunities and reflect the Domains required to attain a CVRP. To see the current modules being offered through the Online Learning Academy (OLA), click here.

What is Expected in the Next OLA Module Series

We continue to review and update existing modules. We are aware, though, that there is a need to continue to grow the OLA as more and more people turn to online resources to fulfill their continued professional development and requirements for CEUs.Therefore, the VRA Canada Education Committee has developed the following list of modules for which it would like to receive proposals from interested and qualified professionals. Applicants are encouraged to review the summaries of existing OLA modules at the link above as some topics have already been introduced. The VRA Education Committee is collaborating with CAVEWAS in the development of modules related to transferrable skills and vocational assessment.  

-Advanced Transferrable SkillsAnalysis  

-Psychometric Testing I & II

-Military culture and unique implications for VR

-Supporting 2SLGBTQI people in VR

-The aging workforce and unique implications for VR

-SupportingIndigenous people in VR

-Providing remote VR services 

What VRA Canada Requires:

· Must be available May 30 – 31 to travel to Toronto for Peer Module Review and Editing, Travel expenses will be paid by VRA Canada.

· The module is to be provided in a written document with all resources, links, and references included. VRA Canada will work with the software platform provider to have the content formatted for the learning management system.

· Each module can include external links to media such as website, YouTube videos and other resources.

How to respond and selection criteria 

We anticipate proposals from VRA members and non-members with expertise in the above-outlined subject areas. If you are applying to write more than one module, provide each module proposal outline on in a separate file.

Proposals should be in English and include a cover letter that outlines your relevant experience and interest in writing a module for the OLA.


VRACanada will provide a $1500 CDN honorarium to successful applicants who complete the module development.

Please submit your proposal via email to arrive no later than 2:00 p.m. ET, Friday January 7, 2022.
